Letter to myself in 10 year's time, by Lisa...

Dear Lisa,

I’m writing this letter to you from 2011. I am going to remind you of where you started from, of all the hopes and dreams that you had when you were seventeen...

Right now, I’m still in Aurillac, and I want to get out! I really hope you are living and working in a foreign country. I hope you are a journalist or something related to culture and the media because it’s what you’re made for I think. I am not completely sure about my future, but I want you to do something great, something big, for you and for others. You need to keep reading books and watching movies. Do you still love TV shows? You probably know all the endings of the ones I’m currently watching. I’m telling you, right now, I’m having the time of my life watching them!

I hope you are happy in everything, that you have the feeling that you are in the right place with the right people. Do you know who you are as a person? Do you still keep in touch with your mother? I think she’s awesome! Have you found love? You know, I’m not really into that right now...

I’m going to give you a list of all the things you MUST have achieved:

  • Visited at least ten countries ;
  • Have a motorbike ;
  • A parachute jump ;
  • To be able to speak more than three languages (easy!) ;
  • Kept in touch with your friends from High School ;
  • Really long hair ;
  • Found true happiness!

Don’t hesitate to add some stuff if you want. Also, it seemed pretty obvious when I started this letter, and if you’re reading this, it means that you have : continue practicing your English!

I know all of this must sound childish or superficial, but it’s really important for me that you do everything I want you to. All of it. I need to be sure that I will live a decent life, one that I really want. So, fight for it, work for us, so you and I can be proud of each other.

Don’t disappoint me, and, also, don’t forget your favorite movie is For Lovers Only. You have to watch it at least twice a year! OK?!

Have fun and see you in ten years' time!

Love,
Lisa
