Melissa's creative holidays with euroculture!

I spent three weeks of my summer holidays plunged in an artistic universe... I took part in a European youth project run by the Euroculture association based in the north of the Cantal. The aim of the project was for people from Morocco, Tunisia, Bulgaria, England, Algeria, and France to share a creative experience and find out about each others' cultures.

The first week was spent in Riom-es-Montagne where we prepared a show of oriental dance, bulgarian songs, theatrical improvisation, and a mock Moroccan wedding.

The second week was in Menet. Our activities were creating a garden, making a video, more theatre work, dancing, singing and... swimming in the lake! At the end of the week, we put on a show in the garden with lots of magical lighting effects. There was also an exhibition about the revolution in Tunisia (which was sparked off by a young man called Bou Azizi setting himself on fire...).

The last week was in Chalinargue. It was very cold. We made a short film inspired by an Arab story. The week culminated with another show... and a party!

I spent three beautiful weeks, with unforgettable moments. I met lots of people and learned things that we just cannot learn at school. This why I strongly encourage you to take part in next year's Euroculture project!
