Eat, Pray, Love

“Eat, Pray, Love” is a book written by Elizabeth Gilbert, which tells the story of a moment of the narrator’s life where she found true happiness through food, meditation and people.

You may know these three words thanks to the movie based on the book, in which the lead role is interpreted by Julia Roberts.

The story begins when Elizabeth, “Liz”, is going through a tough relationship with her husband, which is going to lead them to divorce. And one night, while she’s crying in her bathroom, desperate, she asks God for help. And her long journey starts here. From Italy to Indonesia and on to India, Liz finally starts to live.

Said like that, you may not want to read or watch it this story! But you would miss an incredible opportunity to open yourself up to life!

I think that what makes the story so moving and touching is that everything is true. And it gives - at least to me - a lot of hope. It proves that no matter the obstacles, you can always get over things if you believe. By “believe” I don’t necessarily mean in God, but more in yourself.

Because what you have to know is that this story is not a “How to believe in God for Dummies” narrative! You are free to interpret it the way you want.

I think this story is supposed to give you the courage to trust in yourself, which is NOT easy! You need to find who you are on the inside, not just who you pretend to be. Because, let’s face it, we almost all of us pretend to be someone we’re not!

What this book teaches you is that you shouldn’t be afraid of change, of choosing different paths, if it can guide you to who you truly are, what you’re made for.

Elizabeth Gilbert narrates her life with a lot of humanity and humor. She has this feeling she transmits so well through her writing, that makes you fly away and to live this journey by her side.

Well, I’m done with my deep chronicle craziness, if you want to read the book and watch the movie, let me give you a word of advice: start with the book…

Now, it’s time for YOU to express yourself! Would you be ready to leave everything you love in order to find out "who you are inside"? What do you, in the end, believe in?
