I hate their little red eyes; I have the impression that they are spying on me. I can't bear their way of walking, they look so stupid. In fact they are as ridiculous as my fear. Don’t you see who I’m talking about? I’m speaking about PIGEONS of course!
Well… I know you certainly think that it’s totally ridiculous, but this fear is based on a trauma in my life.
It was a magnificent July day and I would never have thought that the nightmare was going to happen. I was in Toulouse with my uncle, helping him in his rounds (he's a liberal nurse). We were walking down the street and laughing at a horrible white and grey pigeon with orange eyes. He had a kind of white crest. I don’t know if you know the film but this pigeon reminded me of the boss of the Gremlins!
Well, we were laughing and walking along a wall. Suddenly the pigeon charged at us, directly towards my head! If I had not ducked (no pun intended!) he would have crashed into my face. It still gives me the shivers just thinking about it again...
A phobia is totally ridiculous for others but for the person concerned by the phobia, it’s horrible. Aren’t you scared by anything, like snakes or spiders? My pigeon phobia is not common but when you think about it, it’s a phobia like any other…

I'm afraid of spiders, snakes, and of all reptiles... I find them disgusting. If I see a spider or a snake, I faint.
Each of us has fears and anxieties. Some seem ridiculous, like being scared of growing old (especially when one is young), or the fear of failure. In my opinion, a phobia is deeper, more serious in some ways than simple anxiety. My phobia is snakes; I hate these beasts ! They terrify me, haunt me even !
My biggest phobia is being alone in the dark. I had this feeling of panic again recently after looking at a horror film... Since that evening I have not been able to sleep very well, I'm always stressed, tired, sad and I don't feel well. But I hope to fell better again soon...
