Sylvain Cayron’s dream job: engineer (click on this title!)

Job description

-Improve the quality and reliability of tools.

-Create new tools.

-Think about the consequences of a project.

-An engineer has to specialize: mechanics, technology, environment, aeronautics, etc.

-I would like to work in the environmental sector because that is where there are the most job opportunities.

-An engineer often works for industry. The boss asks him to create a prototype or set up a simulation.

The reason why I want to be an engineer

When I was younger, I dreamt of being an inventor and of changing the world! I decided to be engineer when I was 14. I enjoy studying Sciences, especially Biology. I like Astronomy a lot too. I realized that the earth is a small lucky planet and we are lucky too to be on it. It is strange to think that, in the vast universe, we are perhaps all alone... It is important to preserve life and our children’s lives and that is why I would like to become an engineer specializing in the environment.

Necessary qualities

-Keen interest in Biology, Physics and Mathematics.

-A logical mind.

-Problem solving skills.

-Ability to work as a member of a group as well as by oneself.

Engineering school

To get into engineering school, I first need to do a “PRERA” course. I will do it at one of the ENI Group (Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieur) schools, hopefully the one in Blois, in Val-de-Loire, as they specialize in the environment. I wrote them a letter of motivation in December with my application. I sat a science exam in March, which went really well. I have to pass an oral examination in front of a jury soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
