The European Union is really on the move! Remember, a while back, I told you about the candidates for the European Union presidency? Well, today we know who the new President of the Council of Europe is! Can you guess who? Ta dam! Our cuddly Herman Von Rompuy ! Yes, the Belgian prime minister got the post. Hallelujah! But I guess that you don't know what the President of the Council has to do, so, I will explain it to you briefly… it’s a fascinating subject, really and truely!
The President of the Council of Europe is responsible for organizing and chairing all the Council meetings. Moreover, he is the one who has to resolve diffrences within the Council or within the European Union itself.
As regards the President of the European Union, we don't know his name yet, but be patient our future ‘fogey of the week’ will be here soon!
