Edgar Allan Poe is a famour writer who died 160 years ago.
How can we imagine that such a famous writer didn't have a proper funeral?
Here's the story of his death...
Nelson Poe, his cousin, never announced his death publicly.
Fewer thant 10 people attended the hasty funeral of the greatest writer of the 19th century.
The story of his tombstone is a crazy one too.
It was destroyed before it could be installed because the train which transported it derailed.
As a result his tombstone crashed into a stone cutter's yard!
To finish this unlucky story, Rufus Griswold - an ennemy of the writer- published a libelous obituary that damaged Poe's reputation for decades.
That's why some devotees of E.A.Poe want to give him an honorary funeral to reinstate the famous writer in the way that he deserves.
They have organised a funeral service.
350 people are expected to attend.
There will be be actors playing Poe's contemporaries or other, long dead, writers or artists.
Actors will read eulogies adapted from the writings by or about Poe.
It is a weird but appropriate way to pay our respects to this literary genius.
